Color schemes provide predefined color palettes that give your diagrams a consistent, professional look.

What Are Color Schemes?

A color scheme is a curated set of colors designed to work well together. Applying a scheme ensures visual harmony across your diagram.

Available Schemes

Diagrammix3 includes several built-in color schemes:

Professional

  • Clean blues and grays
  • Suitable for business documents
  • High contrast for presentations

Vibrant

  • Bold, saturated colors
  • Eye-catching for marketing materials
  • Good for creative projects

Pastel

  • Soft, muted tones
  • Easy on the eyes
  • Ideal for detailed diagrams

Monochrome

  • Shades of a single color
  • Elegant and focused
  • Great for minimalist designs

High Contrast

  • Maximum readability
  • Accessibility-focused
  • Good for projected presentations

Applying Color Schemes

To a Single Shape

  1. Select the shape
  2. In the Inspector, click the Style section
  3. Click the Color Scheme dropdown
  4. Choose a scheme
  5. Select which color from the scheme to apply

To Multiple Shapes

  1. Select all shapes to recolor
  2. Access the Color Scheme dropdown
  3. Apply colors across the selection

To an Entire Diagram

  1. Select all (Cmd+A)
  2. Apply a color scheme
  3. Colors are distributed across shapes

Customizing Schemes

Creating Your Own

  1. Go to Format → Color Schemes → Edit Schemes...
  2. Click + to create a new scheme
  3. Add colors to your palette
  4. Name your scheme
  5. Click Save

Editing Existing Schemes

  1. Open the scheme editor
  2. Select a custom scheme
  3. Add, remove, or modify colors
  4. Save changes

Note: Built-in schemes cannot be modified, but you can duplicate and customize them.

Using Brand Colors

For consistent branding:

  1. Create a custom scheme with your brand colors
  2. Include primary, secondary, and accent colors
  3. Add neutral tones for backgrounds
  4. Apply consistently across all diagrams

Tips

  • Start with a scheme: Choose colors before adding content
  • Limit your palette: 4-6 colors usually works best
  • Consider context: Presentation colors differ from print colors
  • Test contrast: Ensure text is readable against fill colors
  • Export consistency: Colors may appear differently in various export formats
