Legacy Import

Diagrammix 3 uses a new document format (.diagramx). Diagrams created in earlier versions of Diagrammix can be imported and converted.

Supported Formats

Importing a Legacy File

1. Go to File → Import Legacy Diagrammix File... or press Shift+Cmd+I
2. Select the file and click Open

The diagram is converted and opens as a document with a single page named "Page 1". If the current window is an empty new document, the import is placed there; otherwise a new document is created.

Import one file at a time — repeat the command for each legacy file.

Notation Packs

Diagrammix 3 looks for the notation pack (template) the original diagram used and loads the matching pack, so the palette on the left shows the same family of symbols. If no matching pack is found, the diagram is still imported — you simply won't have that pack's symbols in the palette.

What Gets Imported

• Shapes and notation symbols, with their positions and sizes
• Connectors, including arrowheads and routing
• Colors, fills, strokes, and shadows
• Text content and formatting
• Groups and layers
• Tables
• Images

Some items may need small adjustments after import — for example connector routing or text positions.

After Importing

1. Review the diagram — check that all elements look right
2. Check connectors — verify they're still attached to the right shapes
3. Save — choose File → Save to save it as a Diagrammix 3 (.diagramx) document

Legacy import creates a new document and never modifies the original file. Keep your legacy files as a backup until you've verified the result.

Common Issues

Fonts look different

• The original font may not be installed; choose a replacement in the Inspector's Text tab

Connectors look different

• Re-route or re-attach them; Diagrammix 3 uses its own routing engine
