Printing
Diagrammix3 provides comprehensive printing options to produce high-quality output of your diagrams.
Print Dialog
To print your diagram:
- Go to File → Print or press Cmd+P
- Configure your print settings
- Click Print

Page Setup
Before printing, you may want to configure page settings:
- Go to File → Page Setup or press Cmd+Shift+P
- Select your paper size, orientation, and scale
Paper Size
Common paper sizes:
- Letter (8.5 × 11 in) - US standard
- A4 (210 × 297 mm) - International standard
- Legal (8.5 × 14 in)
- Tabloid (11 × 17 in)
- Custom sizes
Orientation
- Portrait: Taller than wide
- Landscape: Wider than tall
Choose based on your diagram's aspect ratio.
Scale
- 100%: Print at actual size
- Fit to page: Scale to fit one page
- Custom: Specify a percentage
Print Preview
The print dialog shows a preview of how your diagram will appear on paper:
- Check margins and positioning
- Verify content fits on the page
- See how multi-page prints will be divided
Multi-Page Printing
For large diagrams that don't fit on one page:
- In Page Setup, choose your paper size
- The diagram will be split across multiple pages
- Print preview shows the page divisions
- Print all pages and assemble them
Print Options
Content Options
- Print selection only: Print only selected elements
- Include background: Print the canvas background color
- Include grid: Print the canvas grid (if visible)
Quality Settings
- Draft: Fast printing, lower quality
- Normal: Standard quality
- Best: Highest quality, slower printing
Print to PDF
You can also save your diagram as a PDF through the print dialog:
- Open Print dialog (Cmd+P)
- Click the PDF dropdown in the bottom-left
- Select Save as PDF
- Choose a save location
This creates a high-quality PDF that preserves vector graphics.
Tips for Better Prints
- Check margins: Ensure important content isn't cut off
- Use high contrast: Light colors may not print well
- Consider line weights: Very thin lines may not be visible when printed
- Test with draft mode: Save ink/toner while adjusting settings
- Use PDF for sharing: PDFs are more portable than printer output
