Sticky Notes
Sticky notes are lightweight note objects you can drop anywhere on the canvas. They're perfect for annotations, to-dos, references, and brainstorming — and they can now hold images, which makes them ideal for moodboards and visual references.
Note: Sticky notes are different from Sticky Spots. A sticky note is a note object with text and images; a sticky spot is a connection point on a shape.
Creating a Sticky Note
- Select the Sticky Note tool from the toolbar
- Do one of the following:
- Click to create a default-size note
- Click and drag to draw a note at a custom size
The text editor opens immediately so you can start typing. Notes use a familiar yellow background by default; you can change the color later.

Editing Text
- Double-click a note to edit its text
- Text is left-aligned and flows from the top; long notes scroll within the note
- Use the Inspector or the floating action toolbar to adjust the note's color
Attaching Images
Notes can hold a gallery of one or more images:
- Select a sticky note
- In the floating action toolbar near the note, click Attach Image
- Choose Add Image… and select one or more image files
The images are stored with the note and travel with your document. Use the same gallery popover to add more images or remove existing ones.

Resizing and Moving
- Drag a note to move it
- Drag its handles to resize (notes have a minimum size)
- Notes behave like any other object — you can group them, change their layer, and include them in alignment and distribution
Use Cases
- Annotations — call out parts of a diagram with context
- Moodboards — collect reference images on a single canvas
- Brainstorming — capture loose ideas before formalizing them into shapes
- Reviews — leave feedback notes alongside the work
Tips
- Color-code by purpose — use one color for to-dos, another for questions, another for decisions
- Mix text and images — a note with a screenshot plus a sentence of context is far clearer than either alone
- Keep them on their own layer — put review notes on a dedicated layer so you can hide them before exporting
