Canvas Background

Every page (tab) of a document can have its own canvas background — a solid colour, a gradient, or a tiled texture.

Opening the Background Settings

  1. Open the Inspector's Document tab
  2. Find the Canvas section

Background Color

  • Click Add next to Background color to give the page a solid colour, then pick the colour in the colour well
  • Click Clear to remove it again

Gradient

Turn on Gradient to fill the canvas with a vertical gradient. Two colour wells set the top colour and the bottom colour.

Background Image

Use a seamless texture behind your diagram:

  • Choose a preset texture — Cork, Wood, Fabric, or Metal
  • Or click Custom… to use your own image
  • Adjust Opacity to make the texture more subtle, and Tile size to scale the pattern
  • Click Remove to go back to a plain background

Artboard Backgrounds

Artboards have their own background settings with the same options. Artboard backgrounds are included when you export an artboard.
