Repeat (Step and Repeat)

Repeat… makes several evenly spaced copies of the selection in one step — a row of boxes, a column of labels, or a ring of shapes around a centre point.

Opening Repeat

Select one or more items
Choose Edit → Repeat… or press Shift+Cmd+D

The Repeat dialog opens. Choose Linear or Radial at the top, set the options, and click OK (or press Return). Esc cancels.

Count

Count is the total number of instances including the original (2–100, default 3). A count of 5 gives you the original plus four copies.

Linear

Copies are placed in a straight line, each offset from the previous one.

Option	Description
Horizontal step	Distance between copies along X, in points (default 60)
Vertical step	Distance between copies along Y, in points (default 0)

Use negative values to repeat to the left or upwards, and set both values for a diagonal.

Radial

Copies are placed around a centre point.

Option	Description
X / Y	The centre point to rotate around — pre-filled with the centre of the selection. Use selection center resets it
Full circle	On by default: copies are spread evenly around 360° (angle step = 360° ÷ Count)
Angle step	Degrees between copies when Full circle is off (default 45°)
Rotate copies	On by default: each copy is also rotated to follow the circle. Turn off to keep every copy upright

Tip: To make a ring around a hub, change the X / Y centre point — for example to the centre of the hub shape.

Undo

The whole repeat is a single undo step named Repeat, so Cmd+Z removes all the copies at once.
