Working with Shapes

Shapes are the building blocks of your diagrams.

Adding Shapes

To add a shape:

  1. Select a shape tool from the toolbar (e.g., Rectangle, Ellipse).
  2. Click and drag on the canvas to draw the shape.
  3. Alternatively, drag a symbol from the Library.

Selecting and Moving

Use the Select Tool to interact with shapes.

  • Click a shape to select it.
  • Shift-Click to select multiple shapes.
  • Drag a selection box around multiple items.
  • Drag selected shapes to move them.

Resizing

When a shape is selected, resize handles appear at its corners and sides. Drag these handles to resize the shape.

Rotating

Some shapes support rotation. Look for a rotation handle (usually extended from the top center) or use the Inspector to set a rotation angle.

Flipping

Flip shapes horizontally or vertically to mirror them:

Flip Horizontal

Mirror a shape left-to-right:

  • Select the shape
  • Go to Format → Transform → Flip Horizontal
  • Or use the keyboard shortcut

Flip Vertical

Mirror a shape top-to-bottom:

  • Select the shape
  • Go to Format → Transform → Flip Vertical
  • Or use the keyboard shortcut

Transform Menu

The Format → Transform menu provides additional options:

  • Rotate 90° CW: Rotate clockwise
  • Rotate 90° CCW: Rotate counter-clockwise
  • Flip Horizontal: Mirror left-to-right
  • Flip Vertical: Mirror top-to-bottom
  • Reset Transform: Remove all rotation and flipping
